about

Inspired by iconic stock footage of the 1940 Battle of Brittan, La Femme Nakita also pays homage to strong heroines, fictional, real, and even surreal. The title is a mash up of a 1990 French film title and the name of a lovely Plott hound, who considered herself to be the Queen of the Universe. Kelsey borrowed a Black Russian Big Muff pedal to give the Free Bass a massive, wooly, wall-of-sound fuzz. (Yes, we found our bass guitar in a garbage can.)

lyrics

(Verse)

Born in a blackout
Turn all the lights out
Best run for cover
As fear fills the air

Deep in a shelter
Below the chaos
A baby cries,
As she breaths her first air

Born in a black out
Turn all the lights out
Our little Nakita
Nakita Marie

An all clear warning
Comes in the morning
Through dust and chaos
Our 'Kita Marie

(Chorus)

The Guns, they go
Rat-tat-tat

The bombs go
Boom-boom-boom

The earth it just
Shake-shake-shakes

Yes, it
Shake-shake-shakes

(Verse)

Born in a black out
Turn all the lights out
Our little Nakita
Nakita Marie

An all clear warning
Comes in the morning
Through dust and chaos
Our 'Kita Marie

(Chorus)

The Guns, they go
Rat-tat-tat

The bombs go
Boom-boom-boom

The earth it just
Shake-shake-shakes

Yes, it
Shake-shake-shakes

(Bridge)

No end to this violence
Eternal wars that can't be won
Shock and awe just causes fear
And that fear just breeds more hate

No band of brothers
Can win our perma-wars
Only mothers and daughters
Can stop mans’ senseless wars

(Chorus)

The Guns, they go
Rat-tat-tat

The bombs go
Boom-boom-boom

The earth it just
Shake-shake-shakes

Yes, it
Shake-shake-shakes
